Uses CAS. (n/m) posted by Spongerider :) on July 03, 2003 at 03:18 PM

The PFC is using the CAS to determine the position of the crankshaft and the ECU, PFC, ZEMulator, any system that uses the CAS relies on the CAS being calibrated in order for the values in the ECU to be accurate. There's no other way it can be unless you use an optical or a hall sensor on the crank pulley to determine the crank's position. But those sensors must also be calibrated in the same manner when they are installed in order for it to be correct.
This has been my only point all along, that in order for any ECU system to accurately control timing, you must calibrate the CAS; a process many refer to as 'setting the base timing'.
